Benji Marshall and Zoe share their favorite workout routine with two small children

Ex-pro footy player and WAG Benji and Zoe Marshall have revealed how to stay in shape while chasing their two kids.

The couple, who are both 37 and live in Sydney, have seen their approach to fitness and dieting change since welcoming Fox and Ever into their lives.

‘I used to try to exercise three or four times a week. I have always been very aware of what I eat and where it comes from. I drank more alcohol,” Zoe told FEMAIL.

“Now I’m lucky if I get a walk once a week. My favorite exercise is reformer Pilates and Benji and that’s what I’m going to start doing this month together… It’s a priority for me to get my health and strength back. Working with children makes that almost impossible.’

Zoe still wants to eat well, but isn’t as strict as she once was, enjoying a few pieces of chocolate every night in front of the television.

‘But I love it. It’s my ritual and I wouldn’t change it. To be honest, I don’t often get three full meals a day now because I’m so busy – eating a balanced and healthy diet is something I want to get back to,” she said.

“With my Melrose Health supplements I stay healthy. Especially with how exhausted breastfeeding makes me.”

Benji, who called on his career as a rugby league star in 2021, says his approach to fitness is very different now.

“Back then I trained to be fit and ready to play, now it’s more about a balanced diet,” he said.

‘Everything in moderation is key. Even when I train I have the feeling that it is good for my mental health.’

Benji will visit his nearest Fitness First reformer Pilates gym twice a week and go for a run four nights a week after his kids go to bed.

To get them through a busy day, start breakfast with a coffee or ‘power smoothie’ with spinach, berries, egg whites, almond milk and MCT oil, or boiled eggs on toast for something simpler.

Lunch is “something quick, like a soup, salad, or sushi,” Zoe says, while Benji eats a meal that is high in protein and high in carbohydrates, such as chicken and pasta or rice.

“Eating every night is like a family and it should be kid-friendly — we like healthy turkey tacos on mountain bread, we pack this with salad,” Zoe explained.

“Fox has been deconstructed and then Benj and I add sour cream and jalapeños to ours.”

Their best advice for those looking to up their fitness game is to listen to your body and do it alone in a way that feels comfortable.

My body hates running and I always get injured. Don’t follow fads. I have friends who have ruined their bodies and joints by hitting themselves in the gym without proper guidance or training,” Zoe said.

Benji reaffirmed: ‘The more you put in, the more you get out’.
