BRIT Awards 2022: Mo Gilligan digs up Boris Johnson via partygate

Mo Gilligan made a playful dig at the Prime Minister after he was forced to apologize for office parties held in Downing Street during the coronavirus lockdown.

While hosting the BRIT Awards on Tuesday night, the 33-year-old comedian took aim at Boris Johnson after it was revealed that parties were being held during the strict UK lockdown.

During the live coverage, Mo also had to apologize for “getting carried away” and accidentally saying “f**k” while the cameras were rolling.

Mo poked fun at Boris, saying he “knows he likes a cheese board and a party,” while encouraging the prime minister to attend the ceremony during live coverage.

Mo first hosted the annual UK music awards at London’s O2 Arena after taking over hosting duties from Jack Whitehall.

After Anne-Marie’s performance with KSI and Digital Farm Animals, Mo couldn’t help but shade Boris’ recent headline-making antics.

Mo began: ‘We all love to party. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Speaking of parties, Boris, I know you’re watching.

After his comments, Mo threw a cheeky grin at the camera and the live audience roared with laughter after the savage dig.

Viewers at home also picked up on the comment and took to Twitter during the show to share their amusement at Mo’s comments.

Sue Gray’s update on the partygate scandal has revealed that 12 events held at number 10 and in Whitehall during lockdown are now under police investigation.

Elsewhere on his hosting debut, Mo apologized after swearing at a pre-watershed portion of the program during the live show.

Introducing the Best Dance Act award, Mo admitted he was “too excited” and swore before the coverage moved on to the next segment.

Mo later apologized when he said, “So guys, earlier in the show, I got a little carried away and I cursed.

“Apologies for any violations. I’ve lost myself.’

He also joked that his aunt wouldn’t be happy with his language on the show.
