Shortly after Scott’s performance on Monday was announced, Diddy, 52, took to Instagram with a video revealing that he was “demanding” Scott to perform.

‘Hey, what’s up, happy Monday everyone. I have great news, this just came in. For the Billboard Music Awards I made a request, I made a demand, I said my brother Travis Scott should perform,” Diddy began.

Diddy added that he is both the host and executive producer of the show, and that “Travis Scott has to perform.

And NBC said yes. So it goes down. Travis Scott will perform. Yes. Let’s go. That’s love,” Diddy said.

He also spoke about pushing for Scott during an interview with Revolt Black News, where he stressed that Scott needed to be forgiven.

“There’s no cancellation on my watch. Love is about forgiveness… so that’s why it was important to me to have Travis Scott perform. It’s going to be a great night,” he said.

A massive crowd at NRG Park in Houston killed eight people that night and two more were hospitalized days later.

The cause of death for all 10 individuals was listed as accidental compressive asphyxiation.

25 people were hospitalized with early reports claiming as many as 300 were injured, although new court records claim nearly 5,000 people were actually injured.

The attorneys acting as counsel to the plaintiffs have filed court documents claiming that there were in fact 732 claims for “injuries requiring extensive medical treatment,” 1,649 linked to less extensive treatment, and 2,540 claims for injuries whose severity is still pending,” which equates to more than 4,900 injuries in total.
