After four weeks of following this healthy snacking regimen, “bad” cholesterol levels dropped by an average of nine percent.

However, four of the participants experienced a drop of as much as 30 percent.

The healthy snacks in the study contained between 110 and 190 calories per serving and at least five grams of fiber.

Fiber plays an important role in controlling cholesterol as some types can lower its levels.

It can help prevent some of the cholesterol in your gut from being absorbed into your bloodstream, explains Heart UK.

In general, fruits and vegetables are good sources of fiber.

This new study concluded that healthy snacks like these may be a good option for those who can’t or don’t want to take statins.

The snacks for the study were supplied by the American company Step One Foods.
