Simon Cowell admits he likes to eat beans on toast to avoid eating in restaurants

Simon Cowell has confessed that he sometimes indulges in a plate of roasted beans to avoid dining at restaurants while discussing his three-stone weight loss.

The 62-year-old America’s Got Talent Judge insisted he hasn’t had a “gastric band” and instead said his weight loss is due to a drastic change in his diet after he revised his eating habits.

The media mogul added that a doctor had warned he had “the worst diet he’d ever seen,” and that he’s “sticking” to his new regimen by cutting out pies, red meat and gluten.

During an interview with The Sun, Simon said: ‘No, I didn’t have a gastric band! Wouldn’t there be any scars?’

The TV personality admitted to seeing a doctor on Harley Street who specializes in a particular type of diet.

He added: ‘He did my blood work and pee and the rest and a month later the results came in and his words were ‘You have the worst diet of all the clients I have ever seen in my life – you have it diet of a 1960s schoolboy.’

“They were just pies. So he sent me a list of things I shouldn’t eat, including red meat, dairy, sugar, and gluten. And I more or less stuck to it.’

Simon revealed that when he eats out now, he rarely orders anything because he insists he’s not a big eater.

The record executive even admitted to eating beans on toast before going out for a night out because he can’t stand the food.

In addition to now running 40 miles a week, the X Factor boss has tweaked his work schedule to make sure he doesn’t start business meetings until after 9am instead of holding conferences into the early hours like they used to.

A source previously MailOnline: ‘Simon said he hasn’t worn that many sneakers in 20 years. He feels fitter than ever before and sticks to a normal routine instead of sitting on the phone until the early hours.

As part of his life overhaul, Cowell proposed to long-term girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 44, on Christmas Eve in Barbados.

In August 2020, Simon broke his back after crashing his e-bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home.

The star changed his lifestyle after breaking his back in 2020 when he crashed his electric bike near his Malibu home and now has normal sleeping and exercise habits, and has lost more than 20 pounds.

He developed complications from an operation that fused the vertebrae, usually requiring him to remain in bed for six months

And in the wake of a more recent crash two months ago that left him with a broken arm, he is still refusing a helmet.

In the latest accident, the ‘blood-soaked’ tycoon was riding a Das Spitzing Evolution S-Pedelec bike, which has a base price of €9499 (£7921) and has top speeds of 27mph.

WHAT IS AN E-BIKE?

An e-bike is a normal bicycle with the addition of a battery-powered motor. When you pedal, the engine kicks in to inject extra power up to a maximum speed of 25 mph – the legal limit.

Any faster than that and you’ll have to go on your own.

E-bikes have gears and brakes. You have full control over the motor and can switch it on and off as often as you want.

You don’t have to worry about the battery running out, you can just keep cycling like you would on a normal bicycle.

Simon rode a Das Spitzing Evolution S-Pedelec bike, which costs over £7,921 and has top speeds of 27 miles per hour.

The bike has been described as ‘one for the pros’ because a lighter frame and battery put no restrictions on riding uphill or downhill.

The power package has a torque of 120 Nm that provides up to 550% support for your own pedaling performance on demand.

The combination of FOX suspension with up to 160mm of travel on the front and rear wheels and 650+ tires provides more ease when pedaling uphill.
